Our middle and high school youth are not just the future of our church, but an integral part of our church TODAY. Their spiritual development is of the utmost importance and we encourage our youth to join.
Confirmation Classes will resume next spring. If you are interested in being confirmed or re-affirmed, please contact the front office for more information.
On the 2nd and 4th Sundays, we have our EYC or Episcopal Youth Community. We meet at 4:30 PM with Middle & High School youth and talk about our views, Jesus, and our lives.
The youth take a visit to the Church of the Common Ground once a year. Church of the Common Ground is an Episcopal Church that serves our homeless population in Atlanta. We make sandwiches to go in bagged lunches that we hand out after the service. It's a very powerful experience to serve our community in this way.
· Our Youth Group helps to organize and pack bags for our Rocket Fuel Mission, ensuring children in our community have a healthy, well balanced meal outside of their school schedule.
Our youth help us worship by helping at the altar. Whenever they get the urge to carry the torch, they're allowed to begin acolyting. Over time, they move up to Crucifer, where they carry the cross in. The Crucifer also helps the priest set the table before the Eucharist. Contact Meg for more information.
The Youth Service Day had a great turnout this year and we look forward to next year's event. More details to come. It's an all day event that includes lunch. This is a great time to get some service hours and to hear about serving in our community. For our youth who went on the mission trip, this will be a time to do some follow ups with the organizations you served.
Happening is a spiritual renewal weekend for high school youth, led by high school youth. New Beginnings is a spiritual renewal weekend for middle school youth, led by high school youth and adults. The weekend focuses on relationships between our friends, family, and God. Youth in 6th grade and above can come. High School youth can serve on team, even if they’ve never come before. Meg has helped run the weekend in the past and would love to answer questions.
The next New Beginnings is TBD. High School team applications are here. Middle School registration is here.
While Annual Council is voting on new decisions in the church, the youth get together to hang out and have a lock in. The youth lead the service for Annual Council the next morning.
Jr. DYC is for our middle school youth. It's held at Camp Mikell. It's like going to summer camp during a weekend in the winter. We have small groups, afternoon activities, play games, sing songs and get closer with our friends from around the diocese.
