Ending the Cycle of Food Insecurity

We participate in Rocket Fuel, a program designed to provide weekend food bags to children in need.  We are currently providing weekend food bags to Roberts Elementary School and Hayes Elementary School.

Ending the Cycle of Poverty

We are a Path to Shine partner with Roberts Elementary School, providing weekly one-on-one mentoring and tutoring to students in need.

Church of the Common Ground

We partner with Church of the Common Ground in Atlanta by providing our time several Sundays a year, as well as our love-filled, brown-bag lunches and supplies (such as sugar and socks) as needed.

Help us restock our supplies

Buy a bag for $20, feed a child for the weekend.

School begins August 1 for Cobb and Paulding Counties. Therefore, it’s time to reboot our weekend food backpack program for underprivileged students at Robert’s and Hayes Elementary schools, two of our partners in education.

Please join this effort by purchasing a brown bag for $20 to “dedicate” to someone special. We will place the bags on the glass windows between the Narthex and Sanctuary. We are changing the collection process; rather than ask parishioners to shop and fill an individual bag, we will simply gather monetary donations to purchase the food in bulk to restock the pantry. This will simplify the process for everyone.

We have several volunteer opportunities available, and will post sign up sheets for shoppers, baggers, and delivery drivers to help us throughout the school year. Many hands make light work and this is a very flexible volunteer opportunity which does not require much time or money.

We hope you will consider participating to help eliminate food insecurity for these children. Your donation will help us provide quality foods to sustain this outreach program.

Pastoral Care

We have a vibrant pastoral care team that brings communion to our homebound members, provides meals for those suffering from an illness or grief, and who knit prayer shawls that provide comfort and love.  But the most important thing we do, is we pray for all of those in need.

We open our space to the local AA chapter on Tuesday nights at 7:00.

Our members give their time - by serving on our Altar Guild, working on our Buildings and Grounds committee, or tending our community garden.
